Futurist, journalist, entrepreneur, marketer and innovator
Neil is a life-long communicator with a passion for the future that has shaped a colourful and varied career spanning more than 40 years. He has been an award-winning journalist, a digital entrepreneur, a company director and professional marketer. During those times Neil has:
reported news from around the world for a wide range of newspapers and magazines;
managed operations for a broad-based media group;
been group marketing director of a listed media company;
run a US$40-million AIDS campaign for a national government; and
launched more than 14 businesses.
Unusually, he combined entrepreneurship with corporate success. He has served as chairman, executive and non-executive director on a number of listed and unlisted company Boards.
Neil is a founding member of the FutureWorld Network and co-owner of the business. He is an extremely energetic and entertaining speaker, strategist and facilitator, in demand by executives and leaders of major companies around the world. He creates and delivers powerful FutureWorld keynotes, workshops and strategic breakthrough projects for corporate clients and global learning institutions, including Oxford’s Said Business School, Duke Corporate Education, the Indian School of Business, Stockholm School of Economics and London Business School.
He’s a passionate reader, a scuba diver and downhill skier, an enthusiastic amateur musician and cook, and is married to marketing consultant Lizanne. When not travelling for client engagements, they spend their time at their homes in Johannesburg and France.
